No games for college (parents)

I'm leaving for college in August and wanted to bring my ps4, but obviously it would be kind of a hassle to share the tv with my roommate while trying to game. So I started looking into gaming laptops and found one I really liked. (Was kinda blown away at the gaming experience pc offers, shoulda switched along time ago. )However my parents really don't want me bringing anything gaming related to college. They were mad/frustrated that I wanted to buy a gaming laptop and said I should be focused on my classes and get involved in as many social activities as I can. In addition, they thought it was a ridiculous thing to spend a portion of my savings on a gaming laptop.I have always loved playing video games, but this past year Playing games has become a hobby. I always finished my school fist , did not let it get in the way of my grades, etc. It wouldn't really effect my school, but maybe my social activity. I'm not really the outgoing type, still like doing things with friends ,but I'm definitely an introvert. But that's just how I am. Also video games are great stress reliever for me, I think that would be a good thing to have in college. So should I listen to my parents or naw ? via /r/gaming http://ift.tt/2tOgpfk
